DIVERSITY STATEMENT

Eos Theatre Company is committed to highlighting diverse voices and experiences. A culture of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) is a priority in all aspects of our work.

A welcoming and accessible environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered is essential, for audiences and artists of all intersectional identities. These identities include, but are not limited to: race, ethnicity, gender, ability, faith/belief tradition, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, age, socio-economic background, and nationality. Systemic barriers that have historically marginalized underrepresented groups are acknowledged and actively worked to be dismantled within our work and presence in the Chicago theatre community.

Priorities include:

  • Producing work that reflects the vibrant diversity of the greater Chicago community, amplifying voices and stories that are often underrepresented.

  • Ensuring fair and equitable opportunities in casting, hiring, and leadership development for all individuals.

  • Cultivating an inclusive and respectful environment for artists, audiences, and staff, where open dialogue and mutual understanding are encouraged.

  • Making theatre productions and facilities accessible to individuals of all abilities, including providing accommodations as needed.

  • Building authentic relationships and partnerships with diverse artists, organizations, and communities across Chicago.

This is an ongoing commitment. Progress is regularly assessed, practices are adapted, and feedback is listened to, to ensure that Eos Theatre Company continues to be a space where all are celebrated and belong.
